Maya and Jules married at the courthouse at ten in the morning, then took twelve favorite people to a long dinner.
A courthouse morning
The ceremony took eleven minutes. We spent the rest of the morning on the steps outside, where friends threw petals and nobody wanted to leave.

Dinner for twelve
At dinner I stayed close to the table and far from the schedule. The speeches were short, the room was loud and the music started before dessert.
The photo they circled
Late in the evening, Maya's grandmother pulled Jules onto the dance floor. It was the first photo they circled, and it now hangs in their hallway.
